The Gameplay

If you have experienced playing the classic block puzzle games, then you should know the drill. Wood Block Puzzle follows very simple mechanics and easily manageable gameplay. As mentioned above, your goal is nothing more but to get the highest score possible. To do so, you must strategically drag and drop the puzzle pieces on the board and create as many full straight lines as you can (in exception of the Link Puzzle Mode). As soon as the game starts, it prompts you to a standard 10×10 grid screen. This board is initially empty.

Located below the board is another panel showcasing three randomly generated puzzle pieces. Unlike the classic block puzzle games, Wood Block Puzzle will not provide the puzzle pieces in batches. Once you have consumed a puzzle piece, it will be replaced with a new one immediately. So aside from the spacious board (normally the grid size is 8×8), you can also take advantage of this feature. Just be mindful that you must always prevent the board from running out of space. Otherwise, the game will come to a quick end and you have no other option but to start back from the very beginning.

Wood Block Puzzle

The Wood Block Puzzle mode is most likely the main campaign of this game. It generally works the same way with classic block puzzle games. Your goal is to get the highest score possible. To do so, you must strategically drag and drop the puzzle pieces on the spacious 10×10 board. Simply assemble the puzzle pieces and try to create a full straight line which can either be aligned vertically or horizontally on the board. The more lines you eliminate in a single move, the greater the score you will get.

This campaign doesn’t feature any special block or the ability to rotate blocks. It’s just the classic block puzzle games we love. Despite the apparent simplicity, the players are still encouraged to visualize the puzzle carefully and also to try their best to establish the most effective strategy to maximize their final score. Speaking of which, the game will record your personal best score which basically provides Wood Block Puzzle a decent replay value.

Link Puzzle and Fruit Puzzle

Aside from the main campaign, Wood Block Puzzle comes with two other equally engaging modes; the Link Puzzle and the Fruit Puzzle mode. Interestingly, Link Puzzle is the most unique of them all. The concept is not really original but still an interesting addition to this app. In Link Puzzle Mode, your goal is to clear all the blocks by matching two identical tiles. For those who are familiar with how online Mahjong works, this game works the same way. Your goal is to clear all tiles within the given time frame. You can also take advantage of the powerups such as Bombs, Shuffle, and Hints. Players must pay a certain amount of coins to activate such powerups.

Link Puzzle Mode will take you to a series of challenging levels and the rate of difficulty will drastically increase as you progress. Fruit Puzzle, on the other hand, works similarly with Wood Block Puzzle. However, the board is only 8×8. In addition to that, the puzzle pieces are adorned with cute fruit designs. Other than that, this mode works like the classic block puzzle game. It is also interesting to note that each mode comes with its own score chart.
