Each upgrade has different effects such as increased fish value, faster idle fishing, increased catch chance, increased packaged value, increased chance of better fish and a whole lot more.

You can also upgrade your crews and make them more efficient. If boat upgrades will ask for virtual cash, upgrading crews will need gems which you can earn in many ways. You can obtain most gems by completing your goals or if you are lucky enough, you can earn some from Spin bonuses or through random crates and boxes that you can catch from time to time. Items, on the other hand, can be obtained from special crates. These items can be equipped and upgraded to make you more productive and effective in reaching your target goal. The game also comes with a Level Up system. Every time you earned a new level, you will also earn rubies which allows you to unlock permanent bonuses and perks.
