Puzzle Combat is a one of a kind role-playing action game because the battle system will not feature any hardcore turn-based combat but a Match 3 puzzle. The game captures everything we enjoyed in Empires and Puzzles but will take us to an all-new adventure. Your main objective is to help your team defeat the Cobalt Army headed by Hellstein. The Gameplay

The game welcomes the players with a cinematic introduction showcasing the main playable characters including Emma, Jacob, and Stinger. They are all part of the so-called Falcon Force as they went on a secret mission. The team is up against the Cobalt Army headed by Hellstein. Unfortunately, was unprepared for their first encounter and Hellstein managed to defeat them all. Now, it is time for you to find reinforcement and gather new heroes to be part of your team. Puzzle Combat comes with very simple mechanics yet players are strongly encouraged to establish the most effective strategy to win the game.

The most unique element of Puzzle Combat is the puzzle itself. Normally, a typical combat system featured in most Role Playing games is a turn-based battle. In Puzzle Combat, however, the player will be prompted into a tile-matching puzzle. Once engaged on the battle, the game prompts you to three separate panels. The upper panel features the enemies and their respective positions while the middle panel features the grid filled with colorful tiles. The lowermost panel, on the other hand, features the characters and their assigned colors.

Unique Combat System

Here’s how the battle works. You can deploy a maximum of five heroes on each battle. Each hero has an assigned color and they all come up with a special attack meter. Every time you make a match, it feels up their respective attack meter. If a character earned enough points, you can activate their special skills. In order to inflict damage to your opponents, simply match 3 or more tiles of the same color from the grid. You can only inflict damage if the match is aligned with the position of the enemies above the grid.

Much like most tile matching game, matching four or more tiles can be very advantageous in Puzzle Combat. This allows you to obtain special powerups that can create bigger damage towards your enemies. Take note that enemies will also get their own turns and they can manually inflict direct damage to their chosen character.

Build Your Ultimate Team

The best part of Puzzle Combat is the player’s ability to form his own team. From three initial main characters, you can soon recruit new members by summoning them. Each hero has their own special skill set. Some of which are ideal for offense while others are meant to boost up other members. Generally, it is all about building an ideal team and creating a perfect combination. Interestingly, you can also upgrade the characters individually to make them more efficient and effective in every battle. To top it all, the game also allows you to summon weapons. These weapons can be equipped on your chosen character which will dramatically improve their attributes.

The game offers hundreds of heroes and weapons to unlock. You can also upgrade your facilities and add production buildings to your secret headquarters to improve your resources. Sometimes, you will be asked to gather certain ingredients to be able to build a new weapon or gears that can help you out during the battle.

The Verdict

Puzzle Combat takes you to an entirely different RPG experience. The game comes with impressive character designs and it also gives you a lot of areas to explore. It is more than just a typical RPG and absolutely more than just your typical tile-matching puzzle.
