The Gameplay

Unfortunately, unlike most leading match 3 puzzles today, Cookie Jam doesn’t come up with a particular storyline which could have made the game even more engaging. All we know is that you are playing the role of the Chef Panda and your goal is to collect sweets and cookies from the land of Cakelandia. Despite the missing details, the game managed to capture all the interesting elements that we love from a standard Match 3 puzzles.

The mechanics are very simple and easily manageable. As soon as the game begins, it prompts you right away to the first level. It features a grid filled with colorful sweet goods. Simply match three or more tiles of the same kind to clear them out of the grid. The game takes you to a series of challenging levels with a varying range of difficulty. It also comes with different objectives. Some levels will ask you to collect a certain number of specific goods while others will ask you to eliminate a number of special tiles. The challenge in Cookie Jam is the fact that you only have limited moves per level. If you run out of moves, the game will come to a quick end and you have no other option but to start the same level back from the very beginning until you manage to make it through.

Power-Ups and Consumables

Much like Candy Crush Saga and other Match 3 puzzle games, Cookie Jam also comes with special powerups that you can use to win the game. Similar to how powerups are being obtained in the most tile-matching puzzle, if you manage to match four or more identical tiles, you will be able to activate a powerup. These powerups allow you to perform various tricks. You can eliminate an entire row or an entire column or better yet, you can eliminate all tiles of the same color in just one tap.

Aside from the powerups that you obtain from matching tiles, you can also take advantage of the consumables. They are one-time use powerups that you can purchase through virtual money during the game. Simply tap their respective icons below the screen to obtain them. It includes Wooden Spoon that can crush any cookie on the grid; Pastry Bag that can eliminate an entire column; Rolling Pin that can eliminate an entire row and Oven Mittens that allows you to swap cookies on the grid. You can also buy additional powerups before the level starts.

Another interesting element from Cookie Jam is the Daily bonus. It encourages you to play the game on a daily basis in order to earn bigger rewards. The longer you play the game, the greater the rewards you can earn. This might include an Infinite Lives for a certain number of hours and many others. Speaking of lives, take note that this game also follows a Life System wherein you lose a life if you failed to clear a level. You only have a maximum of five lives to spare and you have to wait for a certain amount of time before you can refill them all.
