Once you are ready to battle in Pokemon Go, you can go to a gym (it will appear as a massive town). Once there, you can pick a team of Pokemon and lead them to victory against the defending team. The level of the gym indicates the amount of Pokemon you have to fight. This means a level 2 gyms has two Pokemon you have to fight and so on. To make the gym your, you can pick six of your best Pokemon and fight other Pokemon until you defeat the team leader.

I found the battles to be fast and intense, plus the controls are simplified enough to allow this to happen. Tapping on your Pokemon allows it to perform a fast attack while swiping left or right allows it to dodge. A long press allows the Pokemon to unleash a special attack. There is a special attack meter that needs to fill up before you perform a special attack, so you have to be patient during battle and unleash it at the right moment.

One thing I truly liked is that there is some strategy to game as well. You have to be careful when picking Pokemon to battle other Pokemon, as there are different types. Some types include fire, water, rock, ice and plant Pokemon. So when battling an ice Pokemon, it is better to have a Pokemon that deals out fire-based damage if you want your attacks to have maximum damage.

As you visit gyms and items shops in Pokemon Go, you can gather items. These items include potions, medicine, eggs, fruits, and candy. To make your Pokemon stronger, you can use candy and stardust to make it evolve, which gives it new a fast attack and special attack, as well as increases other vital statistics that can give you an advantage in battle.
